berry yum yum

We did it! All summer we talked about making blueberry cinnamon rolls- dutch oven- but these will do! They were sooooo MESSY making so I am not sure if I'll ever make them again but I will admit they were pretty yum! We just used our cinnamon recipe we usually use and then looked up a blueberry filling on pinterest. We invited whole Fullmer clan over to Palmer for game night before we leave! Was pretty fun! We even made a family video....
(Tanner took the pre frosting photo & I took the later)

berry berry much

Tanner & I went blueberry picking at the cabin a couple of weekends ago. It is amazing, the endless bushes of blueberries and the fact that we pick them and don't have to pay anything, nada! We managed to almost fill a 2 qt pitcher and my mother in law filled another pitcher! Tan & I plan on making some delicious blueberry cinnamon rolls! YUM! We also saw tons of other berry bushes, are bear paw prints around! (was going to share photos of bear poop, because it is FULL of berry seeds. Wasn't sure how y'all would take it though) Not sure what they are exactly!

PS I forgot to share how Tanner and I saw a grizzly bear!! We were crossing a creek (me on Tan's back) and we get to the other side and Tan puts me down and I look down the creek and I see a grizzly walking towards us!! My in laws were attemping to cross and well I was so excited I started yelling, "bear! BEAR!!" And then the bear looked up at us and hestitated, not knowing if he should head our way, and stands up and luckily turns around and runs!! It was such an amazing thing to see and not to mention the adrenaline rush!! I'm not sure how the family feels about me scaring the bear but I kinda think it was a good thing!!

kayaking

kayaking at Lake Eklutna! My mother in law got Tanner and I an awesome groupon for kayaking and biking. Thanks Heather!! So glad we wanted for the perfect day, the weather was amazing!! Afterwards we went to the Valley Hotel, also known as the V-HO, for some yummy food. Have you ever had corn fritters? Am I the only one who was missing out on some fried, fattening goodness??

Seward Folly

While I was in the hospital recovering from appendicitis, over two years ago, I saw this awesome burger on Man VS Food. And well this past weekend we finally tried it!! We did not defeat the Seward Folly Caribou Burger! But it was fun to pretend we were going to try!
This baby consists of 5 lbs of caribou, 12 pieces of bacon, 1/2 lb of ham, tons of cheese, "fat-ass" sauce(which was AMAZING) and lettuce on sourdough buns. Over a pound of fries were included in the meal. I recommend all to try it but make sure you bring at least 3 more eating buddies!!

bye bye birdie

I have never witnessed an animal hunted/killed. I was excited at first, watching Tanner shoot this little, innocent, mindless, spruce hen and then BANG. Spruce hen fell out of tree. It really had no idea what was going on. We were even making a lot of noise with the 4 wheeler, rhino and talking, but birdie really was brainless. Once Tan picked it up I was a little sad. Poor dumb spruce hen. Now it's sitting in the freezer at home :/

PHO NOODLE

We are still crazy for pho noodles. We always order pho tai. It's amazing how dead full and satisfied we are after eating a bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup!
Currently we are searching for the best bowl of pho in Anchorage. We've visited 3 different places so far and our tummys really like one of them the most. The last place we visited they shared a yummy secret with us. take a bite of jalapenos soaked in some type of sauce(I'll find out next time) right before taking a spoon full of noodles! YUM!

Anchorage Zoo

Anchorage Zoo isn't your typical zoo. I was a little disappointed, at first. There aren't very many animals there but after walking around and reading things here and there I realized this zoo provides a home for orphaned, injured and captive-born animals. Like some of their bears, moose, and wolves. And it made it all better for me.

We first got there around noon and it was pouring! We decided to wait til the evening, in hopes of the rain calming. Well when we got back the polar bears were napping as were the siberian tigers :/
Our best entertainers we the seals and grizzly bears! I am so glad we got to visit the zoo.

salmon salmon salmon

last week we went on a family camping, fishing trip in Kenai. As soon as we pulled up the guys pulled on their gear and started dip netting for fishies. That night the men + Heather caught about 59 salmon! that is soooo much fish if you ask me! It is pretty awesome seeing tons of people all here for the same reason, to stock up their freezers with their fish. I couldn't help but think of this being a great experience. I don't know if I ever would have had witnessed & tried dip netting in  my whole life if it had not been for Tanner being part of it. Pretty awesome! It is also such a workout, running through the water while holding a net! Tanner was sooo pround of himself! He caught about 18 in total! A cute little seal graced us with his presence! He was just swimming around!
