Train Ride to Roma

From Viareggio we headed to Roma! It was originally only suppose to take about 4.5 hrs to arrive, but the first train we got on was a really fancy one, with a cabin, and we noticed it wasn't making any stops...= fast train! We bought tickets to the regional train= "slow" train, because they are about 30-40 euros (each) cheaper, and we honestly preferred traveling frugally. So this was another mistake we made while in Italia. I noticed that it was the younger adults that were more forgiving with us silly Americans. The ticket puncher lady informed us we were on the wrong train and had the option of paying the difference or getting off at the next stop. We got off at the next stop and thanked the kind lady. We then waited about 30 mins for the slow train. I believe we added another hour or so to our trip to Rome yet still managed to make check-in time to our flat.
I am so glad we got on the wrong train though. We really want to see more of the coast and wouldn't have if we would have gotten on the right one to begin with. I honestly loved traveling by train. It was fun and we met interesting people. I am so grateful for that experience! We were real train traveling pros by the end of this wonderful adventure.
